Umar Zahid

Umar Zahid serves as a Senior Associate in the Performance Improvement practice at Portage Point Partners, based in Philadelphia. Umar provides operational performance improvement and transaction strategy advisory, supporting organizations through large-scale transformations, technology value creation and technology integration efforts across the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deal cycle.

Umar’s work focuses on aligning technology strategy with business objectives to improve efficiency, enhance effectiveness and reduce execution and operational risk. Umar specializes in driving technology cost optimization by addressing structural cost inefficiencies, including labor rationalization through organizational hygiene and labor arbitrage, as well as software portfolio rationalization to eliminate redundancy and reduce ongoing run-rate spend.

Prior to Portage Point, Umar worked in KPMG’s Strategy practice, where he focused on IT M&A and transaction strategy as well as technology performance transformation and improvement. His experience spans a range of industries, including financial services, industrial manufacturing, consumer and retail and healthcare and life sciences.

Umar is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master of Science in Commerce from the McIntire School of Commerce.
