Saul Downie

Saul Downie joined Portage Point Partners as a member of the Los Angeles office in 2023 and currently serves as a Senior Associate. His primary responsibilities include performing financial and operational analysis, deriving key performance indicators, analyzing working capital and executing on value maximization strategies for both restructuring and performance improvement engagements.

Prior to Portage Point, Saul was a Private Equity Associate at Madison Dearborn Partners, where he was responsible for conducting financial, operational and market diligence for new platform investment opportunities across TMT, healthcare, basics and business & government, software and services (BGSS) teams. He served as a board observer for Fastwyre and Fleet Complete portfolio companies.

Notably on Fastwyre, Saul designed product-level operating models and led lender engagement through refinancing the company’s legacy capital structure, drove cash needs forecasting leading to follow-on equity investment in the platform, developed underwriting models for expansion markets and conducted diligence on new M&A opportunities alongside management as the company successfully doubled its footprint of households passed.

Previously, he was a Senior Associate Consultant at Bain & Company in New York City, where he advised Fortune 100 companies on strategy and operational excellence, as well as the Los Angeles Market Launcher and Lead for Zoomo (Micromobility start-up with $100mm+ raised to date).

Saul received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Distinction from Yale University and was a member of the Varsity Soccer Team. Saul also served as Treasurer and Executive Boad Member for the Chicago chapter of America SCORES.
