Mike McDonald

Mike McDonald is a Senior Director in the Transaction Advisory Services practice at Portage Point Partners based in the Chicago office.

Mike has experience advising private equity sponsors and strategic buyers on transactions including acquisitions, carveouts, divestitures, take-private and financing transactions. He leads due diligence workstreams on complex transactions ranging from $10 million to $2 billion with a focus on financial and operational due diligence, quality of earnings and working capital analysis and identifying opportunities to create value beyond closing. He has led due diligence engagements for financial sponsors and strategic buyers across the healthcare and life sciences sector, including healthcare physician services, healthcare IT, pharma services and MedTech, among others.

Prior to Portage Point, Mike was a Director in the Deal Advisory practice at KPMG, where he spent more than 12 years, including nearly a decade in financial due diligence across the healthcare and life sciences sector. He also spent time in FP&A and strategic finance at Origami Risk, a high-growth insurtech SaaS platform. Mike began his career in KPMG’s Audit practice.

Mike holds a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accountancy from the University of Missouri. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Illinois.
