Matthew Ray

Matthew Ray is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Portage Point Partners where he has served as Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO), CEO, Chairperson, Lead Independent Director, Special Restructuring Committee Chairperson and Strategic Advisor leading wide-ranging transformations and restructurings for both private and public companies. He has led engagements developing and implementing performance improvement plans, strategic alternatives, organizational realignments, operational turnarounds and financial restructurings resulting in significant value preservation and creation for a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
Prior to founding Portage Point, Matt co-founded Victory Park Capital where he served as Senior Partner and Member of the Investment, Valuation and Management Committees. He is one of three founding partners responsible for multi-billion dollar asset growth comprising a diversified fund offering including direct lending, private equity, special situations, publicly listed and SBIC vehicles. Matt was primarily responsible for fundamental analysis, transaction execution and portfolio management encompassing direct lending, troubled assets, bankruptcy financings, special situations and control equity investments. He also managed business diligence, financial restructurings and workouts, operational turnarounds, value creation initiatives and strategic alternatives as well as serving in interim executive roles for portfolio companies.
Matt has served as a Director on more than 15 corporate boards in roles of Executive Chairperson, Chairperson, Lead Independent Director, Lender and Investor Representative, Restructuring Committee Chairperson and has substantial committee experience. Matt is also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Latin School of Chicago.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and is a Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP).
