Matthew Friedman
Senior Director
Matthew (Matt) Friedman is a Senior Director at Portage Point Partners. As a member of the Transaction Advisory Services Practice, Matt specializes in assisting private equity and corporate clients through mergers, acquisitions and internal financial/operational reorganizations.
Matt has 14 years of experience assisting middle market clients with financial, accounting and tax strategic realignment, reorganizations, mergers, spin-offs, entity rationalization, debt refinancing, modeling, tax attribute analysis, transaction cost analysis and document review. He has experience across the transaction lifecycle, from planning and preliminary negotiations through closing and post-closing financial integration.
Prior to joining Portage Point, Matt was a Senior Director at Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) in the Washington, DC office. At A&M, Matt’s practice concentrated in providing strategic financial services, transaction structuring, acquisition modelling, transaction cost analysis and due diligence to middle market private equity firms.
Prior to A&M, Matt spent 10 years with EY in their Strategy and Transaction practice in the New York and Washington, DC offices. At EY, Matt’s practice covered a wide range of complex engagements for large financial and Fortune 500 clients. Over his career, Matt has assisted multinational clients operating in a wide variety of sectors with a focus in healthcare, retail, manufacturing, industrial and technology, telecommunications and media.
Matt earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from New York University and a Juris Doctorate and LLM in Tax from Villanova University. Matt is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New York and a licensed attorney in New York and Pennsylvania.
