John McKinnis

John McKinnis is a Managing Director at Portage Point Partners in Dallas specializing in improving business performance through holistic EBITDA transformation.

John has more than 20 years of experience leading traditional consulting engagements, serving in interim management roles, driving performance improvements and building lean organizations as a leader in the aviation industry. He is known for his collaborative, outcome-driven approach to drive meaningful and sustainable transformation that is reflected in the profit and loss statement (P&L). John brings extensive experience not only from advising and serving on boards but also from operating within the C-suite. He works closely with clients to pinpoint areas ripe for change and implements strategic initiatives across various departments and functions, spanning from manufacturing to front and back-office teams.

Prior to joining Portage Point Partners, John was a Managing Director and Global Lean Program Leader at Alvarez and Marsal where he held meaningful leadership roles in some of the largest and most impactful EBITDA transformations at the firm achieving over $1B in improvements across a variety of industries including energy, commercial real estate, life sciences, financial services, healthcare and manufacturing. John also spent 10 years at General Electric leading MRO and Flightline efficiency projects and building Lean programs at both GE Aviation and airlines including Southwest, KLM and Quatar Airways.

John earned his bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University and his Master of Business Administration from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. He is a Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt.
