Managing Director
Galya Appell is a Managing Director at Portage Point Partners in the Performance Improvement practice based in the New York office. Galya specializes on a broad range of value creation and preservation strategies, including driving profitable growth, building economic resilience and leading operational transformations across the financial services, insurance and financial technology sectors.
Over the course of her career, Galya has led a diverse set of transformation and corporate development initiatives, from $10 million to $5 billion mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions across financial services, information technology (IT) services and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors to a $500 million rapid operational transformation tied to a take-private transaction. She has also spearheaded numerous digital transformation programs delivering meaningful cost savings and enterprise-wide synergies for her clients.
Prior to Portage Point, Galya worked closely with leading middle market investors to define and execute value creation plans. Galya served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Innovation at AmeriLife, where she led several critical value-unlocking initiatives and helped prepare the company for a successful capital raise. Before AmeriLife, Galya was a Partner at the Boston Consulting Group, where she advised Fortune 500 companies, private enterprises and principal investors across financial institutions, business services, consumer and retail sectors. Galya began her career as an investment professional in a private equity fund focused on growth capital transactions in emerging markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and Latin America.
Galya holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the State University, Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow, Russia.
