David Baxter

David Baxter is a Director in the Office of the CFO (OCFO) team at Portage Point Partners based in New York where he focuses on partnering with CFOs and finance organizations to lead transformation efforts. David has 17 years of experience specializing in financial modeling, liquidity management, forecasting, capital allocation and analytics and frequently works with CFOs and finance organizations to drive enterprise financial management and performance. He has significant experience working with companies across industries, including technology, healthcare, industrials, chemicals, financial services, automotive and consumer products.

David has helped clients facing a variety of challenges, including carveouts and divestitures and capital events, including initial public offerings (IPOs) and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions. He has led process improvement and organizational change projects to deliver better financial analytics and reduce the cost of finance for clients.

David has been involved in the following engagements

• Led carveout, sale and close process of six business units of a financial sponsor. Sale and close process included leading the company through quality of earnings (QoE), due diligence and execution of post-close transition service agreement (TSA) agreements
• Designed long-range strategic plan that served as enhanced three-statement model leading to improved debt and capital management at an agricultural firm
• Engaged with financial sponsors and investment bankers undergoing due diligence to provide modeling and capital analysis related to solar and infrastructure projects
• Created three-statement and 13-week cash flow modeling capabilities for an industrial manufacturer which resulted in meaningful swings in company liquidity
• Implemented a hedging program for commodity raw materials used in the manufacturing of medical devices resulting to material benefit to the earnings of a healthcare company
• Refined the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) operating model (organization, data and process) for a financial services company, including transforming forecast accuracy and reporting performance
• Developed forecast models and prepared and delivered reporting packages on financial forecasts and key market developments for Senior Management and the Board of Directors of a financial services company

Prior to Portage Point, David was in the OCFO practice at Ankura. Previously, David was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley and a Manager in the Financial Markets practice at PwC.

David earned a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School, a Master of Science in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Kalamazoo College. David is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York and a Certified Treasury Professional.
