Apratim Sarkar

Managing Director

Apratim Sarkar is a Managing Director at Portage Point Partners focused on performance improvement, operational transformation and post-merger value capture. He has more than 20 years of experience advising C-suite executives across healthy, underperforming and distressed situations.

Prior to Portage Point, Apratim was a Senior Partner and Head of the North American Operations at Roland Berger, where he built and scaled the practice with a focus on end-to-end company transformation. In that role, he designed and deployed a fully AI-backed operations transformation platform spanning sourcing, supply chain optimization, manufacturing efficiency and working capital management. The platform delivered 5 percent to 10 percent EBITDA improvement within six to 12 months, with AI automation reducing delivery costs by 30 percent to 40 percent.

Before Roland Berger, Apratim co-led the North American Sourcing and Procurement Transformation practice at AlixPartners, helping to transform it into a $150 million annual revenue business. He developed the AlixPartners playbook for retail private label penetration and sourcing, as well as the firm’s first digital solution for end-to-end supply chain optimization and risk management, which was deployed across more than 30 engagements.

Earlier in his career, Apratim was an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company for seven years in the Consumer Packaged Goods practice, advising private equity (PE) and corporate clients on merger and acquisition (M&A) due diligence, synergy modeling and post-merger integration. He led a multi-year total company transformation at a global technology enterprise and served as virtual Chief Operating Officer for a consumer packaged goods client in bankruptcy, realizing approximately $45 million in cost reduction through portfolio rationalization and sourcing turnaround. Before moving into consulting, Apratim spent 13 years at Oracle Corporation, where he built the company’s clinical trials management product from inception to $25 million in annual revenue, adopted by eight of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies.

Apratim holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science from Brown University. He also holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur.
