Director
Michael Graham is a Director in the Office of the CFO (OCFO) Practice at Portage Point Partners based in the Chicago office. With more than 11 years of financial and advisory experience, Michael guides management teams and private equity sponsors through transformative events such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), initial public offerings (IPO), distressed situations and divestitures.
Michael has substantial experience driving successful client outcomes across complex accounting and financial reporting matters, including IPO readiness, US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting and regulation Securities Act and Exchange Act compliance, purchase accounting, share-based compensation, fresh start accounting, US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and international financial reporting standards (IFRS) conversions and other technical topics arising from deal processes.
Prior to Portage Point, Michael was a Senior Vice President at Houlihan Lokey and a founding member of the National Accounting and Financial Reporting Advisory team where he led hundreds of engagements across the investment lifecycle, from advising on pre-transaction structuring to post-close integration or realization in a sale or successful capital markets event.
Previously, at Nuveen, Michael owned several aspects of financial reporting, including US GAAP financial statement preparation and global consolidation and integration requirements resulting from M&A activity. Michael started his career at Deloitte, where he focused on accounting advisory engagements, including carve-out implementations, preparing issuer SEC filings and the implementation of new accounting standards for Fortune 500 companies.
Michael earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting with distinction from the University of Kansas. Michael is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Illinois and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
