Managing Director
Karl Roberts currently serves as a Managing Director at Portage Point Partners where he focuses on providing performance improvement advisory and interim management services.
Karl’s areas of expertise include advisory, interim management and operating roles. Karl has over 30 years of experience as a trusted advisor to private equity firms, boards of directors and corporate senior management teams. He has served over 150 clients and 50 private equity firms across more than 30 different business sectors. Taken together, his teams have helped clients realize well over $10 billion in value through top and bottom-line improvements, and whole company transformations.
Prior to joining Portage Point, Karl served as Interim Head of Professional Services for Lucidworks, a leading advanced search firm leveraging cutting edge AI and ML technologies to optimize search. Previously, Karl was a Supply Chain Services Partner at Dunes Point Capital, where he was a key advisor to six of the firm’s portfolio company Boards.
Karl’s previous experience also includes 20 years in key leadership roles with 3 major consulting firms – Ernst & Young, AlixPartners, and McKinsey & Company – focused on driving out-sized operational improvements for dozens of underperforming / distressed clients.
Karl has also served as Vice President Supply Chain for Avenor, a C$2B forest products company, and also held key management roles with HJ Heinz’s Ore-Ida Foods group and Boise Cascade, a $5B forest products, paper and office products distribution company.
Karl earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, with Suma Cum Laude honors; and his Master of Business Administration in Finance and Economics from UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management, with Magna Cum Laude honors.
