Stuart Kaufman joined Portage Point in June 2018 where he leads operational and financial transformations. Mr. Kaufman acts as a financial advisor, Chief Restructuring Officer and interim manager for clients across a broad range situations and industries for middle market companies spanning $25 million in enterprise value to over $1 billion. Mr. Kaufman has over 20 years of operating, credit and financial advisory experience including the management of distressed corporate turnarounds, balance sheet and operational restructurings, corporate credit assessment and management

Mr. Kaufman has extensive experience in the management of both formal and informal restructurings supporting reorganization negotiations among all constituents and the development of overall restructuring strategies

Prior to joining Portage Point, Mr. Kaufman worked at a number of notable business advisory firms including Alvarez & Marsal, Navigant Capital Advisors and Winter Harbor LLC

Prior to a career in interim management and business advisory, Mr. Kaufman worked in industry including telecommunications and natural resources and in financial services including structured financing and credit at prominent global financial institutions including GE Capital and the Bank of Nova Scotia

Stuart works with clients across a numerous sectors including hospitality, consumer finance, manufacturing, eCommerce, healthcare, distribution, publishing, logistics and natural resources. Mr. Kaufman has undertaken a number of operational restructuring initiatives for clients including the evaluation of product / customer profitability, SKU rationalization, overhead cost reductions, SG&A initiatives and facility / location evaluations. Financial advisory initiatives have included cash flow forecasting, lender and covenant negotiation, working capital management, and financial planning

Stuart is recognized as a Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor and holds a Masters of Business Administration from York University
